The common guppy, Poecilia reticulata, is a popular freshwater fish known for its vibrant colors and lively personality. A minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended for a small community of guppies.

Maintain the water temperature between 74-82°F (23-28°C) and keep the pH level in the range of 7.0-8.5. Guppies adapt well to various water conditions, but stable parameters contribute to their overall well-being.

Provide a substrate of fine gravel or sand and incorporate live or artificial plants, as well as floating plants for cover. Guppies appreciate a well-decorated tank with hiding spots and swimming space.

Their diet should consist of high-quality flake food, supplemented with live or frozen options such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A varied diet ensures they receive essential nutrients for optimal health.

Guppies are peaceful community fish and are compatible with a wide range of tankmates. However, avoid housing them with aggressive species to prevent stress and conflicts. Regular water changes and monitoring of water parameters contribute to a healthy and thriving guppy aquarium, showcasing their vibrant colors and playful behavior.
